when does it stop?

Hi there, I had my last taxotere (doxetaxol) tretment nearly 3 weeks ago. This was my last of 3 treatments with this drug. The previous 3 were the FAC.So now all my chemo is over. Thank god.

I am very impatient as I am use to my body doing what ever I want in regards to excercise etc. I even managed to keep up my usual routine in the early stage of my routine but the Taxotere wrecked me.Can anyone please tell me how long will this mucle pain last.my legs are still heavy and my forearms feel as though I have just run 10 km's on my arms.

Appreciate any advise , cheers

  • I had fortnightly chemo of 4 AC then 4 Taxol.

I am a runner & I was able to run throughout treatment.

The taxol gave me leg pains and general rundown-ness. It was easier than the AC in many ways (no nausea for example) but it knocked back my running more than the AC. However, I felt a lot better by about 4 to 5 weeks after the last treatment. The tiredness went away & the energy came back.

Not sure of the difference between the various treatments but you can look forward to feeling better in the future.

  • It's a bit of a blur now but it was about 2mths before any hair started to grow back.I think I went back to work about 2mths after chemo and must have felt ok. My poor chemo brain struggled for about 6mths.Taxotere is very hard on your body so it may take several months to bounce back.

  • I expected to be feeling pretty normal by now as the previous 2 infusions with taxotere meant 2 tired weeks than the 3rd was ok.This time round the 3rd week is shit.I am pushing myself cause I know when I first go out there to do my walk it hurts but gets better as I warm up.Plus I keep telling myself why we r all going through this ...to be survivers....but hey it's good to winge a bit.

I am on a high protein diet as I have read the treatments change your muscle to fat ratio.Lots and lots of water ...up and down all night, lol I am hoping this hastens the flushing of all the drugs.

Would love to know how long it takes the body to get all the chemo drugs out.I will ask when I see the oncologist on Friday and post it here.
