Hey Kym
I have had at least 3 lots of core biopsies at various times over the last 2 years that I can remember.
1. Was your core biopsies a little bit uncomfortable or extremely painful?
A lil uncomfortable.
2. Did you experience any after effects, such as swelling, bruising, or discomfort?
Some bruising only.
3. Was the core biopsy procedure explained to you beforehand to your satisfaction?
Each time I had a procedure it was fully explained to me by luvly staff.
4. Is there anything you wish you’d been told about your core biopsy before you underwent the procedure?
No.
5. Knowing the physical impact of a core biopsy, could you consider undergoing a core biopsy for scientific research purposes?
I would not hesitate to have a core biopsy if needed to help in any way for research as anything I can do to help.
6. Can you briefly describe your experience of core biopsy?
Each biopsy was fully explained as to what to expect.
The most painful part was the local anaesthetic going in.
I didn't like the sound but it was bearable.
I just made myself grin and bear it because I would do whatever it took to find out what was going on.
My 3 biopsies at different times were for:
1. My original diagnosis.
2. Core biopsies of the seroma I have, that was very invasive and into every pocket she could get in to. Long procedure and tiring but not super painful.
3. When they were trying to ensure I didn't have recurrence of which I have since been diagnosed with radiotherapy induced Morphea.
The two things I have found most painful for me to date during my 2 years of tests and procedures are the so called bee sting in to the nipple to put the die in before the scan for sentinel node. But the most painful ever so far were 5 skin punches to a very swollen and hard breast (I definitely had big tears rolling down my face from that one!!!)
