I had 5 biopsies taken under general anaesthetic. The procedure was explained to me a couple of times. I have large breasts and the bruising was quite painful. My tumor was actually just under the skin so I am guessing it may have been more painful if it was further in. I may consider another core biopsy for research. My experience was ok. I was given little ice packs to help with the swelling and bruising. I enjoyed watching the ultrasound screen so I could see the tumor and the needle go in to take the biopsy. I think the sound of the needle was worse outside of my body. When it was in it did not sound too loud.
