Hi Kym,
I had a core biopsy last month at QLD BReast Screening. The staff were amazing and talked to me/kept me informed every step of the way and they explained everything but I did have big boobs and not sure if this had any bearing on the pain felt whilst being compressed in the mammogram machine but it was bordering on unbearable. It took a while to get the sample they needed and I was still in a fair bit of pain up until I had my double mastectomy last Friday (nearly a month after) The experience was fairley quick, around 40 mins and if it meant I could help in any way then yes I would be prepared to go through it again for research, unfortunately I don't have much left to sample :)
I was taken into a room, procedure explained then laid on a bed on my side whilst in the machine, there were approx 4 medical staff in the room doing various things and talked to me the whole time, afterwards I got a cuppa and biscuits.
