I had 4 biopsies done with ultrasound. They were carried out by the breast surgeon. The procedure was explained very well. But despite assurances that it would not hurt, 2 of them did. It may have been because of the position of my tumor. It was very close to th chest wall.
The other 2 biopsies were to check calcification for DCIS. The surgeon did an excellent job of this using ultrasound and saved me from having to have a mammogram assisted biopsy which would have taken much longer and been more painful I would think.
I had bruising and the area was so sore I could not sleep comfortably. It was still bruised and sore when I had my mastectomy a week later.
I would be very reluctant to have on for research purposes because of my painful experience.
