What next??

Ok What next?? I have pain in feet and legs under control. Thrush seems to be getting better. Now I wake up with a mouth full of ulcers and can hardly swallow. When will it end.  This chemo better be worth all the pain. All I can eat is ice cream and Jelly..not that i'm complaining about that but my weight is massive since starting chemo and i feel so unhealthy. Guess i will have to weight until all chemo over and try to get back to a decent weight.

I'm so over this docetaxel & herceptin.  Its powerful and massive.

Anyone else on the same as me. Love to hear from you.

  • Yes I seem to have hit rock bottom. I think your idea of lemonade ice blocks sounds wonderful and refreshing.

I have been taking my temperature every day and it has been above 36.5 tops. This morning i think im getting better. My ulcers in my mouth are almonst gone. I think I'm on the mend. Its day 8 after chemo so should be almost there by day 10. I cant wait.

  •  Poor darl, sounds like you've hit rock bottom.Only way is up now surely. But go back to hospital if you get any worse or get a temp. You can't take any chances with chemo.I found lemonade ice blocks were soothing when I had a sore mouth and no appetite.I don't know how chemo puts on weight cos you sure don't feel like eating! My oncologist told me that docetaxil was alot harder on you -it sure is giving you a hard time.Hope you are feeling better soon.

  • I have been using a mouth wash and toothpaste for dry mouth. I have heard of the bi-carb soda mouth wash too.Yes i have the feeling like what ever i manage to eat and swallow just sits there in my throat and doesnt move. I have been eating fruche yoghurt. and ice cream as well. Thanks Di for the Fungilin lozenges, i will check it out. Also today i have been having nose bleeds and now have sores in my nose. I feel like a total mess and just want to hide from the world today. I figure things can only get better.

  • hi chrissy, i am also currently undergoing the delight that is chemo!! The oncology nurse recommended bi-carb soda and warm water as a mouth wash. I have found this pretty helpful. Also have the sore throat and the feeling that everything i eat is getting stuck in my throat. Yoghurt is nice!! Hope you're feeling better soon.

  • Hi Chrissy,

Ask your doc for Fungilin lozenges - they helped me when I had mouth ulcers and sore teeth from the chemo.  There is also a blue mouthwash that the onco nurses gave me - cant remember what it was called - but it did help.  In the meantime, you can just rinse your mouth with salted water, that also helps.
