What next?

Hi,  Just another update as I've been in three different hospitals over the past couple of weeks.  All to do with the hematuria experienced after second dose of docetaxel. Initially went to local hospital with severe pain that eventually led into hematuria.  It cleared up but started again on the Monday before my set appointment with my oncologist, who admitted me into hospital for follow up with xrays and ct scan. The main issue for this admission was due to a ureteric stricture causing left hydronesphrosis and AKI or swollen kidney due to blocked urether with elevated Creatine levels.  Stenting couldn't be done in hospital so discharged from there and admitted into private hospital for procedure. Now have a JJ Stent placed from my left kidney to my bladder.  Only doneTuesday arvo.  Discharged home Wednesday, and am still a bit uncomfortable but not experiencing any severe pain. My blood pressure is also low.  Follow up by Urologist next week, as well as my Oncologist.  So I hope things settle down before then.  Apparently the stent is a temporary thing.  It has to be replaced on a regular basis,  How regularly I don't know.  Initially, they thought the blood in the urine was from the clexane, so it has now been reduced to half dose and to be reviewed by oncology team.  So hopefully have that all sorted next appointment.

As to whether I have the third dose of docetaxel before Xmas remains to be seen.  I have asked for a break in treatment so I can feel reasonably normal,  in order to take a little drive/holiday up to Hervey Bay over a couple of days in the new year.  My oncologist has agreed to that.  So lets see what happens next!

What a nightmare for you Beery, and so frustrating. I hope that the stent works well for you, and that you can get on with the getting better bit. Sending you a big cuddle, Trace ??????

  • Sending hugs and hoping that holiday is all good!!!

I have a cranky left kidney due to an obstruction in the ureter.. hence a jj stent..  mine did settle down  and after 5 months in, I have just had it replaced. Rested for a few days and now not too much impact unless I over do it. My urologist now says see you in 7 months. Hoping it does not give you any hassles. Sending hugs Sharon xxx
