Hi Linda
Good luck with your oncologist appointment tomorrow. It was very hard for me to walk through the door for my first oncologist appointment earlier this month. It made me a " cancer" patient which is something I didn't want to be.
I felt very overwhelmed that first appointment, even though I knew that Chemo was a given. Sitting there and hearing the oncologist talk about it was quite difficult. I knew from my surgeon that I would be starting Chemo asap. My oncologist made the arrangements for s chest port to be inserted and my Chemo started the next day which happened to be Friday 13 th January.
Please feel free to contact me for any questions or support.
I am only just ahead of you in this journey.I was diagnosed with multiple cancers in both breasts mid October. Had a double mastectomy beginning nov and full node clearance both sides 1st Dec. I'm very lucky.., someone was watching out for me when I had a dream to have a mammogram as I had no lumps or bumps.
I now know I have the best chance of getting through this challenge and seeing my 3 children continue to grow as young adults and blossom.
Just wanted to add... I was petrified of Chemo... More so than loosing both my breasts. I don't miss my breasts st all. I'm happy knowing my fabulous surgeon did everything possible to rid me of my 6 cancers.
I am two weeks post first chemosnd feel good. It is stressful, my first few days wernt fabulous but it really is doable. I have 3 more fortnightly chemos then 12 weekly chemos followed up with 6 weeks radiation to my neck andchest wall.
I was 43 yesterday. I'm very blessed to have celebratedy bday with my 3 gorgeous children and my parents. They have been a huge comfort and support to me.
