What am i going to do now???

Well it's been two weeks since the Tractor Trek and I'm still on an adrenelin high from it all.

Friday saw us (102 tractors)"cruising" from Red Cliffs - Vic to Wentworth - NSW ... approx 70k.  Saturday it was  Wentworth to Wentworth, via Dareton and Ellerslie ... all in NSW and another 80k (212 tractors this time).

A good friend Pauline Garraway was my co-driver, so we spit our driving sessions into shifts.  The one who wasn't driving had the camera so there are plenty of pics.  Pauline has had an association with B/C through family and friends over the years and is now a fully-fledged member of my Pink Army.

On Sunday we had a parade through Wentworth and ended up all parked in the main street.  The Pink Miss attracted a crowd where ever she went - we couldn't help being noticed I guess with the drivers as well as the tractor all in pink.

We actually won an award "The Fancy Fergie Award" ... this was probably because we were so shy, retiring and didn't want to draw attention to ourselves!!!

We have had plenty of press and TV coverage so that's a good thing for BCNA with so many people being supportive and wanting to know what our organisation was a about.  The generosity of people is amazing - wherever Pink Miss has been at field days, markets and street displays loose change has been dropped into one of our tins and am happy to report I banked $506 after the Trek.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would have loved to do it again the next weekend but everyone was ready to pack up their tractors and go home !!!  How inconciderate, as soon as I got this tractor driving thing all worked out no one wanted to stay and play.  Stil there's anothe one in five years.

I'm having a DVD made with all of the Pink Pics and am bringing it with me to the Summit, so hopefully you'll be able to see how supportive this community has been.

So I still haven't answered my question - what now???  We have our show after I get back from the summit. The Pink Miss will be on display for the last time - after that she is rejoining the Grey Brigade (all Fergie tractors are traditionaly grey).

Will probably spend Sept getting organised for October - decorating the town again, Girls' Night In at Cut'n'Curl Salon, Pink Lady roast afternoon at Sunraysia Nurseries, Mini Field of Women and a charity golf day to round off the month... unless of course we think of anything else to fil in some spare time !!!!

I'm really looking forward to attending the summit, catching up with friends I made last Aug at CL training and meeting friends I have made here on line.... and taking part in the Breakout Sessions I have nominated for.  Is three days going to be long enough????

Maybe we could fit in a game of footy on Sat night ... that would be awsome!!!

Cheers ... Shirl xx

  • It's not too difficult -- easiest way is to open up your picture in a new browser 'tab' or window.  Then copy the URL from the browser address bar.  Come back here to a new blog post (or comment) and click on the little icon with the tree just above the field you type into. A little window will pop up and you can paste in the URL where it says 'image URL'.  You can put in as many pics as you like!

If that sounds confusing, I can run you through it at the Summit. :)

  • Hi there Di, what would be good.  I've got a lot on f/b Beacon bcna page but not sure about how to go about putting them up here.  I'm bringing a slide show disc  and  paper coverage pages with me to the summit next week - but defintely "talk me through it" then I'll know what to do for October !!!

    Cheers .... Shirl

  • Wow, Shirl!  What an adventure. Shame you have to wait 5 years to do it all again, isn't it?  Can't wait to see the pics.  Do you have them online anywhere?  If so, I can help you post some here if you want...
