What a week!
Hi one and all,
Yes I have recovered (well apart from still very little hair, skin rashes and tiredness!) from chemo and was pronounced fit enough to begin radiation this week. First session was Mo...
Hi Dette
I live alone and had to drive myself to chemotherapy and two different series of radiation. Don't know why your radiation oncologist told you that you would not be fit enough. I was diagnosed in October 2010 and the only days I haven't driven were the 3 days I was in hospital for my mastectomy! You may feel a bit tired, but you can still drive. I had major burns that needed daily dressing in hospital for weeks after radiation had finished (both times), I drove myself to the hospital but had to remember not to drag my elbow across my side when turning the corner.
All this sounds as if I didn't have friends to come with me, but at that time they were all tied up with their own operations. The four of us who are close friends all had operations within days of each other. It ended up that I was the fittest following mastectomy and drove all over town to visit them.
If you feel well enough to drive, do it. I'm sure your mother would love a friendly face and someone to help her with undressing etc. Sorry that you had that devastating news about your sister, hope she's pain free and surrounded by her loved ones.
With love
