Waiting period from chemo to surgery
Hi,
my question is how long people have waited for their surgery after chemo has finished.
I was dx Nov 18 De Novo IBC Mets to spine age 40.
It has been 4 weeks since my chemo has finished and I haven’t met with a surgeon yet.
Since I had a good response to chemo, does it matter when my surgery is?
Waiting is doing my head in :(

- @sjd_barra are you public or private? Do you have a breast nurse? If so they should be able to provide a better time line to at least the first appointment to plan the surgery.
- I waited 5 weeks after chemo finished and had my mastectomy. My surgeon told me they won't do it any sooner because of the chemo, to high risk of catching infection.
- @Blossom1961, I hope I get a weeks notice at least. I have been ringing the hospital to confirm appointments. None for me yet though!
- @sjd_barra my surgery was four weeks after chemo but the surgeon had scheduled it in and just forgot to tell me. I had to find it out myself. I was officially informed the week before the surgery.
- Hi sjd_barra I finished my chemo on the 15th of September and my surgery was on 24th of October . I was stage 2b triple negative so had chemo before surgery but was seeing surgeon when I was on chemo so there was a time plan . Take care
