waiting game

Hi everyone,

I'm 34 yrs old and have been diagnosed with breast cancer just over a week ago. I have 3 kids under the age of 4 so life is really busy already! Just don't know how I'm going to cope with fighting cancer as well as being there for my little ones. 

I'm still at a point of disbelief that this is happening to me, but I guess when all the treatment starts, I'll just have to face it head on.

I've found the waiting to be terrible - first of the biopsy, then whether it was anywhere else and now for the surgery, to be agonising. I just want to start fighting this! I guess it's also knowing that things are going to get worse before they get any better.

It is definately comforting to read other women's stories and knowing you are not alone.

    Hi Danielle,

    Thanks for your support! It really helps knowing there are others going through the same experience. This site has already provided me so much support - Right now its middle of the night and  I can't sleep, but I feel I have somewhere to get some relief.

    Hi Sonia, I know how you feel, I am 33 with two kids and diognosed on the first of december with early breast cancer. It was a shock and I just wanted to get rid of it. I am having chemo first then surgury so I am two treatments in, it can be hard at times but knowing that you are working on getting rid of it makes it easier.

    Hi Sonia,

    Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, i am glad you have found your way to the BCNA website though. It is alot of support!!

    I had 2 kids under 5 when i was going through treatment, luckily my husband was there to help but i got through it. You will amaze yourself at the strength you gain from all of this!!

    The waiting from diagnosis to surgery is absolutely the worst time!! I know how you are feeling, you just want this horrible cancer out!! Once you have your opperation and start chemo things start to move along a little quicker and you feel alot better because you have a team of medical professionals monitoring you so it a nice feeling.

    My kids made my chemo not a priority. They still wanted to play and go to the park and all the things they did before my diagnosis so you don't have as much time to sit around feeling sorry for your self ( although that is allowed just not as much time to do it).
