Waiting for results - second guessing

I had my first set of imaging post surgery today. 11 months since surgery. Of course, the technicians aren’t allowed to tell you anything, but a more experienced sonographer was helping a younger one and pointed to something on the screen showing my ultrasound and said “see, that’s ductal”.

That doesn’t sound great, does it??

To the other breast, that has had the surgery, she pointed out something and said “that’s just scar tissue”.

I see the surgeon tomorrow for  the results but lying here wondering what it all means 😬

  • Great news, @Halla.  Now you can rest, relax and celebrate the long weekend.  💖💖
  • that's awesome news, @Halla xx. I had that on my first year anniversary & similar on my 2nd & 3rd (with a different name) so wasn't totally surprised when I got the callback again - the difference this time being in the 'other boob' ....

    Celebrations for you tonight!   xx

  • Thanks team…good news! All is ok. I have some fat necrosis from the surgery but apparently that’s allowed. Phew! Thanks for holding my hand 🥰

I hope everything is good for you too @arpie and @Locksley

  • Thinking of you today @Halla .... like @Locksley - I had my recall ultrasound yesterday, so I am now also awaiting my own results (stemming from my Oct 4th yearly scans that picked up an anomaly in my 'good boob' ....) so you are definitely not alone xx

All the best for your results, too @Locksley xx fingers & toes crossed for everyone, including myself xx. My technician (who's been 'doing me' since 2017 when first detected) .... said she wasn't really concerned with it as it was 'all round' & should be a fatty nodule ... they worry if it has a 'jagged outline' apparently .....

But there are always the flutterbies in the belly until I get the phone call or report saying that everything is OK .....
  • @Halla hope all goes well.  They could have been looking at your old scans as a reference point to compare.  I know.it doesnt help as we are worried.

Last week I had my 2nd year mammo and ultrasound after diagnosis and was just as worried.   The technicians doing mammo said things look good as I know they are not meant to comment.   The experienced technician doing the ultrasound said I will just check images with radiographer.  It felt like she was gone for hours and I was then holding back tears thinking **** please don't let me have to go down that road again.  She came back into the room as i was just  holding myself together and said sorry for delay she was just being through and had to wait for radiologist.
  • Hi @Halla.  It is those little comments and actions which put us into panic mode - you are not alone there.  Try to relax and wait for the results to be given to you.  Sometimes they point out bits as a teaching tool but it has no bearing on you and your body.  It has been said that the radiographers need some training on what not to do and say when patients have already been down that road as we all have heightened senses.  All the best.  Keep us informed.  💖💖
  • Thanks @arpie !
I did sleep. I was very sleepy, I think my body prefers to knock me out when I’m worried!

I have always found that if there’s something concerning on the imaging then a radiologist will come and go over the area. The technician always goes and gets them to check if they’re worried. If they let you go home without that happening then don’t stress.
That is reassuring because the doctor did not come in! Thanks!
  • All the best for your results @Halla .... we'll be thinking of you xx. I hope you get some sleep too xx
