Waiting again!!

Hello ladies:) I don't come on here much any more.It has been 3 years since my treatment and I have been feeling really well.BC is in the back of my mind these days, rather than taking up my every waking moment as it used to do.However,2 weeks ago I went for my mammogram, and then I got a letter and a call to tell me I need to go to RPA in Sydney for further tests next Monday. The lady told me there is an area midline and deep, that needs more looking at! And all the stressing starts again! What are the chances of a new cancer in the other breast? Has this happened to anyone on here?I should know onMonday if it is anything to be worried about or not.I will let you know.Cheers Robyn xox

  • Hi Robyn - I do hope your return visit to RPA is because they are being very thorough and your stress levels can return to normal!  We all fear recurrence and I do hope it is nothing!
    Take care

  • Hi Robyn,

Your original Post appeared under Activities, and Tracey62 and I both answered it there.  I will be thinking of you on Monday at RPA.  Keep in touch and let us know how you go - hopefully they are just being extra cautious. xx Michelle
  • Hey Robyn,
So sorry that is something like this that has you back here at the moment. The chance of another new primary cancer in your 'healthy' breast can vary depending on your original diagnosis and situation.

For me, I have been told that my chance of getting a new cancer in the other breast is about the same as anyone's chance of getting breast cancer in the first place. Also because I am on hormone treatment (Femara now) then this might give me some added protection from another hormone positive cancer.

I had a very similar thing happen on my last mammo/ultrasound. It turned out to be a lymph node (a perfectly normal one) that just had not shown up on my previous scans. But, like you, it sent me into a bit of a panic. They redid the ultrasound and it was all ok.

I hope that your situation is soon resolved without any more worry for you. Let us know how you go. Sending positive thoughts your way. Deanne xxx
PS I bet those grandkids are growing fast. Have you been seeing lots of them?
