Victorian Healthcare Survey - Experience Survey

Hi All,
Has anyone else received a Vic Healthcare Survey  - Experience Survey? It’s described as “ Your cancer experience survey questionnaire”.

I received a copy in the post today. 157 questions, de-identified, complete on paper or online. It goes through diagnosis, deciding on treatment, surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, follow up care , information received, overall care etc. It’s being conducted by IPSO Aust an independent research company on behalf of the Dept of Health. It states that patients who have received treatment in the public health system are being randomly chosen. It looks & reads like it’s legit.

Wondering if anything will come of completing it? Has anyone else had any experience of this questionnaire or heard about it and whether it will make a difference by completing it?

Thanks

I don’t know if the results have been published or not - the excerpt is just part of what’s online. There may be more information there about the last one, who’s been approached etc. I assume the 38 centres cover a geographically wide area.
  • Thanks Afraser,
It’s interesting that they don’t make the results of the previous survey publicly available and put a spin on only one of the 157 questions by combining such a wide range of response. You don’t know what the other options to select were. Not asking about satisfied with care in this survey, which was a pretty ambiguous rating. Options for 2023 are : very good, good, neither good or poor and poor.
  • From the Victorian Agency for Health Information website - for more see www.vahi.vic.gov.au

A redesigned patient experience survey for people receiving cancer treatment will help shape the future of cancer care in Victoria’s public health services.

The Victorian Cancer Patient Experience Survey will collect data ona patients’ entire cancer care journey and their experiences of diagnosis, decision making, treatmentsemergency department attendance, follow-up care, information received and overall care

Understanding the patient experience across the pathway of care helps health services and healthcare professionals improve the way care is delivered.

The survey will be rolled out at 38 health services across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria inMarch 2023.

Survey results will inform the priorities of the Victorian cancer plan 2024-2028, which is to be released in mid-2024, and also allow evaluation of current patient care.

Almost 5,000 Victorian cancer patients took part in the previous Victorian Cancer Patient Experience Survey in 2019, with 97% of respondents saying they were satisfied or very satisfied with their overall care

  • The survey should have a contact point on it for you to ask any questions you may have.
