Vaginal Sores is a side effect of chemo?

Hi, I have done 4 sessions of AC followed by 6 sessions of Paclitaxel , counting down to 12. I just noticed slight bleeding and upon further investigation ,what looks like an ulcer in my vaginal area. I had noticed a few weeks ago some bumps and sores in the area.No pain.
Is this a side effect of chemo ? I haven’t heard anyone mention it before.
  • Maybe ask for a swab on it as well, in case it isn't from the chemo?

    All the best xx
  • Let your oncologist know about finger numbness - peripheral
neuropathy is a known side effect and can be a pain if it lingers. Vitamin B and ice treatment may help.
  • Thank you all..I will discuss with my oncologist nurse tomorrow and see what she says. I was just a bit worried as I had not heard it mentioned before but having done a bit of research looks like it can be a side effect of chemo.I guess that paclitaxel is effecting me more and more as the weeks go by.Getting some numbness in my fingers and big toe nails are lifting off. As you said these drugs are not nice.On the brighter side I seem to have more energy, hope that doesn’t change too much.
  • I think it’s a side effect of the chemo. I have had lots of skin issues, plus raised bumps around vulva area. Some stinging areas that come and go - and similar issues inside my mouth and upper throat. They settle quickly though, so see how it goes. If it doesn’t go away get it checked like others have said. These drugs are not nice.
  • I had some raised bumps on the vagina with paclitaxel.  This resolved after a few days. I also had quite a few skin dryness issues in the vaginal and rectal areas as well as skin fungal infections.  I used different creams and moisturisers suggested by the Onco nurses.
As mentioned by @Afraser please get it checked out.
  • Vaginal dryness is quite common with those using AIs but I haven’t heard of it so much with chemo. I had the same chemo regimen as you but didn’t experience any vaginal changes until I started letrozole. Possible to be a chemo reaction but wise to get it checked out, whatever the cause. Best wishes.
