UPDATE post radiation morphea/necrosis/fibrosis.
Hey Luvlies
Just thought I would give you a quick update on the poor old alien boob from the post radiation morphea/necrosis/fibrosis.
You will remember I ended up going to a private surgeon after my 10 months of every possible testing and procedure with no diagnosis and then the private fellow sees me for 5 minutes and I am finally given a diagnosis as mentioned above of which my Rads onco confirmed and was devastated.........Note - this diagnosis is extremely extremely rare. I am one of 54 cases in the whole wide world so I am "special".
Anyway I am a star blazer for a new procedure for what I have.... It is called fat grafting which has become very popular now but of course in my case it is trial and error.
Anyway what they do is they take fat from another area of my body (liposuction) and put it through a centrifuge to seperate the fat etc from stem cells then stem cells are injected all around the nipple and in to the alien breast. This is to try and rejuvenate the dying cells. In doing this it is adding to the volume of the breast which is already swollen, hard and feeling hot so you can imagine how uncomfortable I currently am and this is 1 1/2 weeks later.
The plan is that this should soften the breast in time. So I have been back to see the PS following my procedure to have my stitches out and to check all the small wounds were healing and all is good. He has said he will see me in 3 months so I have a reprieve from him for this time so one less appt to worry about for a while. Do you girls get sick of all your never ending appointments you have to book in to your diary???
Anyway I don't know about you luvlies but I am going to sit back and enjoy my Christmas and New Year with all my luv'd ones and try again with my New Years wish that 2014 is going to be an amazing year as my so called lucky number 13 definitely let me down.
I would like to wish you all a joyous Christmas with all your family and friends around you and to hope for you that 2014 is as amazing for you as it will be for me.
'Just remember how far you've come, not just how far you have to go!!.
You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be!!."
I reflect on this as I continue my ongoing journey now 2 years since my original diagnosis. I have come such a long way and so have you luvlies.
Luv today tomorrow and always, Mich xoxoxoxoxo
