Hi Gleesond,
There will be pros and cons about each decision you have to make and let's face it ,they are all awful decisions.I was 47 and opted for lumpectomy(2cms),full node removal and radiation. So 7yrs later it came back in the same breast, same spot!I was in the unlucky 8% that gets a recurrence.I had a mastectomy followed by chemo last year.I now wear a prosthesis and I am ok with it.But I don't like looking at my scar and I don't go naked EVER.Of all the treatments chemo was by far the worst.Losing my hair was way worse than losing my breast and it takes so long to return. So you look like a cancer patient for many months after you are better. It's been 7mths since chemo and I have 1-2cms of hair length-still wearing stuff on my head. All you can do is wait for all the facts to be presented to you, take on board what your surgeon and oncologist recommend and then go with what feels right for you.I wish you all the best in this awful journey.
