Unrefined Organic Coconut Oil

Hi Everybody,

I was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer long story short had lumpectomy + 30 daily radiation doses. Before the radiation, I researched online for something that would make the side effects easier to deal with unfortunately it was not to be!

One night in bed, I had a lightbulb moment, “coconut oil” I had researched this product long before I was diagnosed, but that night in bed, I thought “why not” so I smeared it all over my very red and burning breast, the effect the next morning was actually really easy to see, not so red and definitely much more comfortable!

Long story short, after every treatment I applied this 3 -4 times per day (though not before treatment)

The technicians  (Thank you Bruce J )  were amazed at my skin no breakdown and no redness and whenever I felt uncomfortable (breast aching) an application of coconut oil would soon make it disappear. Also the last five treatments were focused on my nipple as that was where the first and largest lump was (had 3 lumps) I had no problems what so ever, it was truly a miracle.

Coconut oil has apparently anti-inflammatory properties; I believe this 100%, one night (I get my best ideas at night :) I couldn’t sleep as my thigh was aching so much, (old car accident damage to soft tissue) it was also graduating practically to my ankle, so the lightbulb went off again and I smeared coconut oil on it needless to say the next day the pain had disappeared (and no I don’t have shares in the company  L ) Below is an URL which explains the benefits of coconut oil.

One thing be prepared for it coming off on your night apparel it dries really stiff,  so soak it in a bucket with liquid detergent and VINEGER!.

I went to see my Surgeon (thank you Mary Self Wonder Woman) in December 14 ‘and she was really shocked, she could not believe the condition of my breast (so soft no hardness) also when I went for the follow up mammogram the technician told everyone in the area about it coconut oil I mean, as she said my breast was amazing.

Please everybody please use this as it definitely works! One thing use only unrefined virgin oil! Also every time I feel it aching, which is normal (lumpectomy equals scar tissue) I just give it a smear J I love this stuff!

Please let me know if you have used it and what your results were!

Good Luck!

Kathy

  • Hi Tanya,

I wish you well for the surgery!  Do you have someone to take you there the day of the surgery?   you will need someone as you have to go to Women’s Imaging in Moonah for what is called “hook wire placement” so it is better that you get someone to drive you there. Also before that you have to have dye injected at the RHH.

How is your RBC ( I looked at your blog)  I had the same problem as you and had to have a blood transfusion as I could not breathe…..it was actually quite horrible (developed anaemia) and still it took a while after the trans for my RBC to go up! Make sure you check your RBC before Radiation therapy if it is is too low they won’t do it.  I had to wait an extra 2 weeks.

I completely sympathize with you about the way you feel after chemo…..I had terrible side effects after each treatment and was not really  in a good way when I started  RT. Thing is there are women who go to RT and then go to work afterwards!  I take my hat off to them “Bravo”

Re: post RT still feeling fatigued….some days are good, some not.  I feel it is an individual thing. I hope that you are someone who wears it well:) To be honest Tanya….RT was a walk in the park compared to chemo!

Post RT, I take Zinc, magnesium, Vit B….just to give the ole immune system a boost!

After surgery, use coconut oil as it will help with scarring.

  • Thanks I will be snapping up a bargain today!

I have an appt with Mary today to plan surgery (the moment I have been dreading) and providing that all goes 'well' I guess radiation will start a few weeks after surgery.

Ive just completed 6 rounds of chemo so I really dont know where I am ging to find the energy to face it all. I feel completely spat out already. It's good to know there are things that can help. The coconut oils sounds like a goer.

How are you feeling post radiation therapy? Are there any lingering effects?

    Tanya

  • Hi Tanya,

You can get it in Coles or Woolworths.....but lucky you! coles has it on special at the moment for $8 something, it is usually nearly $12. I always buy the Melrose brand. I have seen other brands cheaper...but I prefer Melrose. Have you started Radiation yet? if not when it does start go with the flow.....I used to feel that someone had quite litteraaly pulled the plug.....completely exhausted...so just went to bed :) I just saw it as something to get through!

I hope you go well, and yes I am in Hobart, love Mary she is  great surgeon and a really nice person.

    Good luck!

  • Hi Jane,

Good Luck for your radiation treatment!

As I mentioned, after treatment your breast will ache, so keep using it!

    Cheers
