Hi @Blossom1961 and @LMK74, the good news is that it's not cancer. The bad news is it is Achalasia. All the nerves in my oesophagus have been destroyed - asked if it was chemo or radiation that contributed to that and they said they don't think so. The lower oesophageal sphincter is also not opening, both of these things mean food can't get into my stomach - it just gets stuck in my throat. It's a degenerative auto immune disease and I will never get those nerves back. I have now had a second and a third opinion and have been told that even with surgery which is the standard treatment I will never eat normal again. So far weight loss has been 9 kgs in 5 weeks as I can't barely eat and have very little liquid - just enough to keep me going. Some days I can't quite believe I've been hit with another serious illness, but for the most part it is what it is and I just have to get on with it. Learning to take it a day at a time and back on the merry go round of hospitals, surgery, specialists, tests, tests and tests.
