Living with triple negative breast cancer

There are many different types of breast cancer, each treated slightly differently.  Triple negative breast cancer is a less common form of breast cancer, so some women may find it difficult to explain their treatment options to friends, family and other women with breast cancer.

Many women with triple negative breast cancer form connections, friendships and support groups with other women, no matter what type of breast cancer they have.  Some find the support of other women with triple negative breast cancer helpful, as they share similar experiences. If you would like to connect with other women with this type of breast cancer, the BCNA online network has a dedicated support group for those living with a diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer which you can join.

Although targeted treatments are not yet available for women with triple negative breast cancer, it is very treatable.  Five years after diagnosis, women with triple negative breast cancer are no more likely to experience a recurrence than women with other types of breast cancer¹. In the longer term (over 10 years), it is possible that a recurrence is less likely in women with triple negative breast cancer².
