I agree we are very lucky to have the programme. I believe it is only in reasonably suburban areas which is a shame for those people who live in more rural locations. I have heard stories of peoples finger and toenails going black and falling off. Thank goodness my nails have remained quite strong. There is an obvious dent when the chemo began and the nail is a different colour either side. I have also developed vertical ridges running the length of the nail and unfortunately the nail breaks along this line. A few nails are also growing out with a bit of a curve under..I hope they go back to normal as the poison leaves my body. My Oncologist said the same thing...regular checkups but no scans unless something looks odd. I was very worried for a while but I am determined not to let this ruin my life and will just get on with it, you cant spend the rest of your life waiting for something to happen!
