Hi Narelle
I was diagnosed with TNBC + Estrogen + breast cancer in Marc 2011. I have very bad veins and after 2 weeks of being a pin cushion, I decided to have a port put in. It was the best decision I made. I had 16 consecutive weeks of Chemo Taxol and 4 rounds of Carboplatin which stretched out over 20 weeks due to low blood counts etc. Then 5 weeks of radiation.
The oncology nurses are so skilled at using ports there is little or no pain associated with using it. I would thoroughly recommend getting one.
Enough about me, some tips for you. Surround yourself with positive people as they will help uplift you when you are feeling down. Listen to your body and don't try to overdo things.
There is more and more research being done into the treatment of TNBC worldwide which means oncologists are better informed about the best course of treatment for each woman diagnosed.
Chemo brain is a great excuse for forgetting people's names when you bump into them in the street.
Stay strong, take each day as it comes, accept the help that those who care for you offer, know that you are not alone.
Sending you a big hug.
Cheers
Pam
