Treatment is officially over - yay!

On Friday I finished radiotherapy. I think I've gone through it quite well. My skin has discoloured just like being really badly suntanned and I've had a little bit of peeling but no blisters, no weeping, no really bad side effects - so overall radiotherapy has been a walk in the park compared to chemotherapy. It's such a relief not to have to go to treatment every day and not to have a gazillion doctors / hospital appointments any more. I think now that it's over I can see what a drain its been on every aspect of my life. I feel like I can finally start focusing on me and my health and well-being. I did have a bit of a scare earlier last week - I thought I found a lump in my right breast but it just turned out to be my rib lol. I started the chemotherapy trial a few weeks ago. I take a tablet every day and two on weekends and I have to be checked by my oncologist once a month. It gives me a bit of nausea but it's nothing that I can't handle; kind of like being pregnant really. So now I focus on being healthy and planning our fabulous trip to the USA in January and looking forward not backwards! Thanks to everyone for their support xx
  • What a great achievement!  Bet you feel absolutely fantastic!

Just want to wish you all the very best and say congrats.

take care and remember to rest up (you'll probably still feel tired for a while).

    cheers

  • All the best with the IBCSG trial - will be thinking of you.  Do they tell you if you are getting the drug or the placebo?  With the 6 monthly checkups you can't lose anyway!  Have a great time in the US - you deserve it!
