Travelling Chemochick

Hi People: It is Friday night a week to my next Chemo, and on Wednesday, I flew from Perth to Sydney to do 4 days of training for my Jungian training. After a day of traveling on Wednesday, I walked 700m to do some food shopping, and on the walk back, my heart seemed to go into a light rapid jiggly pulse. I stopped several times to sit down, but the funny pulse went on for quite a long time after I got back to my room. I then slept well, went to class in the morning, and by the end of the day I was so tired I was ready to burst into tears whenever someone spoke to me. Just finished the second day of training, and opted out of the group dinner to have a rest, a short walk and an early night. I am meant to do a presentation on Sunday, but am not sure if I have the energy or brain capacity due to Chemobrain to do it. The trainers are wonderful and have said  to only do what I can, and I am loving it, but by golly it really is pushing my limits. I have to be prepared to say I can't do it if it is too exhausting, but I am also thinking that maybe there are ways that could be fun, like with pictures instead of writing lots of notes, or just brief headings that I talk to.  Anyone else got any good tips for preparing and giving presentations with Chemobrain?

  • I didnt have chemo; but during waiting for radiaiton and having radiation i worked but also overdid self care probably wasnt engaged fully in all my activities; i would let your intiution or gut feel lead you--if you feel energised by presenting then do so --and maybe either stick with script or have your personal experience in the centre of your presentation--ie has your dreams been influenced, or life threatening or sense of self --recently i did a webnair where range of speakers inclduing one who had several experiences of cancer-not breast--and she spoke about what was helpful to her as far as psychological or emotional realms which was quite different from the professionals canvased --enjoy your sydney sojourn
