Transfusion fear
My red blood count is 75 and the Dr's are wanting me to have a transfusion.
It is my last chemo and I really want to avoid a transfusion as I have a huge aversion to even the thought of it. I would...
Tanya, I wish you could have seen me when I was freaked out about radiation therapy reaching my heart valve! Truly, I had pictures in my mind of it being cooked like in a microwave! The valve is made out of cow tissue (I call it Daisy Mae!) And I felt I was being disrespectful to the doctors because radiation therapy was on their plan for the next step. So I was equally freaking out about bringing it up with them. But, when I did, I learned a huge lesson. The doctors were actually respectful of my fears .... & were understanding that we can only respond with our genuine feelings about our own bodies.
I bet I'll be freaking out again about something else, along this breast cancer journey. But I know now this is part of normal & it's OK to express how I feel, talk about it with fellow travellers, & tell the doctors. Which is exactly what you're doing!
