TOREMIFENE

HI ALL is any one else out there on toremifene, faresten. i was on tamoxifen but the side effects were horrific for me. have been on toremefenealmost 3  years and just going mad with the effects. i have , massive weight gain  nausea, light headed my platlettes have stayed low 100 and liver function up which isnt good either.

occasional blurred vision /mood swings the dry's and worse loss of lobido some times i cant stand to be touched i hate it,

anyone else have side effects too.what do you do??????

i am glad to be here and shouldnt complain but just having a shit day.  i guess

the cure is at times worse than the cancer i think. i have a partial collapsed right lung now care of the radiation and the chemo also stuffed up my platlettes and liver , but i am alive and living life to the full , at the moment on holidays in south aust we left waikerie the morning of the tornado so glad we did,.

love to everyone.

  • one thing i am lucky with is having had a hysterectomy when i was 35, no chances of Uterine Cancer with the Tamoxifen,, doesnt it suck, giving us one poison with the chance of poisoning us elsewhere!!

  • Hey there Fran, I know this is old,, hope all is well with you and yours,,

Im doing a lot of reading lately and many women go off Tamoxifen to get pregnant then back on it,, Im seriously considering going off it for 6 weeks to lose some weight because my BMI says Im 'obese' hate that word, but I cannot fit into any of my clothes and once had a walkinrobe of three sides with draws,, now its all packed up and full of 'fat clothes'... I too am on anti-depressant for the panic attacks that started with chemo and now get really bad with the hot flushes, Just on Alazapran or something like that , lol, can never say it,,

But yes, I have been toatally compliant throughout all of my treatment and the "choices" I got to make about  about it, yeh right,, but have come to the decision that I think im going to take a break, get my metabolism into gear and then go back,, emailed my Onc but not heard from him,, lol, he prob thinkin im having a crazy day,, but its totally distressing me,, i walk, am eating so healthy, and no alcohol, no smoker,, Im hearin yas sisters!!

Went to a site in the US where they said it was the chemo that puts the weight on,, i put on 4 kilos thru chemo,, then i lost 5 kilo between Radio and starting Tamoxifen,, have stayed there at the same weight ever since,, its the Tamoxifen alright,,

oh and last week my reco surgeon said 'its twice as hard for me to lose weight as any one else because of Tamoxifen'!!

so i am of the view that if they are doing it to get pregnant, i can certainly do a wee spell off,, any comments on that??

  • These drugs really shouldn't be that hard on us -honestly,can't they come up with a better solution.I'm on Tamoxifen which cranked up the hot flushes just when they were fading.I have been putting up with them for 9 years now.I'm now on a low dose antidepressant(endep 10mg)which does help reduce the flushes and helps me sleep.Crazy to have to take another drug to help with side effects of the other. It's a high price we pay to keep the cancer away. Good on you for still living life to the full.I've given up work now and am loving it!
