Hi Donna,
Had the same surgery, 13/1/16, My surgeon was stunned how big my tumor was, it was 70mm! No, that is not a typo! and No , i didn't feel it, just a thickening on my breast. Unfortunately my nodes came back positive so I had to have them removed and spent the night in hospital...and as a result i had a drain in for two weeks...the hook wire is an interesting experience...and you should get a local for that.and they will tape it down so you don;t look like a radio tower walking around with an antenna!......just remember to breathe...Don't have the period problem, i've had a hysterectomy, but isn't it great that it always turns up ant the most inopportune time! NOT!
Oh I was also injected with a dye during surgery, don;t know if you will be, but you will vomit blue (if you are sick like me! anesthetics and i don;t mix!) pee blue and poo blue!
I am going in again tomorrow too for a re excision as my margins came back unclear...then i can start chemo...
My advice? Take your time in getting home, don;t go until you feel ready, anesthetic affects everyone differently, so listen to your body. Good Luck with your procedure and hope you have an easy recovery. I didn't use my Zonta pillow to walk around with as it irritated the inside of my arm, which was effected by the node removal, I do however use it in the car to stop the seat belt from touching my boobs and I use it at night to stop my arm from touching the side of my boob...You will find a way to use it that suits your needs, my surgery was to the side of my breast so it kinda didn't help that....
Good Luck Donna! Sending you love and light for an easy recovery and beautiful days....
