Hi - I haven't had time to read all of the responses but thought I would share my thoughts.
I have struggled with this especially as walking as exercise for me is difficult due to some lower back issues. I used to swim but risk of infection kept me out of the pool. So, I got a bike. I ride when I can for as much as I can cope with.
I have been on continual chemotherapy of different types for the past 15months. Just these past two weeks I have started swimming and it is liberating. I am currently on a treatment that doesn't seem to interfere too much with my white cell count so I got my oncologist's ok to swim! I battle fatigue daily but exercise definitely helps me to keep on top of it. Even on the worst days a bit of a ride would help get the endorphins flowing and a 30min nanna nap would help too (I set an alarm so that I don't sleep longer).
I see exercise as essential to healing my body. I treat it as part of my treatment - just like I have my chemo, I go for a swim/bike ride, meditate etc... I am so glad to be back in the pool!
You will know what is right for you - It helps just to come up with a simple plan and start there - accept the days it just doesn't come together or work out and try again the next day. Be kind and loving to yourself.
Much love,
Amanda x
