for me it was really hard to know if i was bigger as I couldn't compare! I was also used to be flat chested or really high boobs from the expanders.
to be honest, I noticed that they were bigger after about a week or so from the implant surgery. I now actually have a nice cleavage :-) Trying on clothing was the biggest eye opener as I didn't think that I was that big but it was amazing how many clothes of mine no longer fit or just didn't look appropriate any more.
I had a nipple sparing mastectomy so I didn't have to worry about the tattooing. If I didn't, I probably would have gone for the tattooing, so I felt and looked "normal".
Your boobs will also feel really firm initially but over time they will soften up. Mine feel normal now.
