I have had the tissue expanders for my reconstruction. They feel and look odd as the expanders sit differently under the chest muscles. I had really high lopsided and funny shaped breasts while they were being expanded. Thank god for the bras and padding you get in the my journey kit. I think you do have to have faith in your ps. I went up a cup size and I couldn't tell if I was bigger than before. This was partly due to the fact I couldn't remember what they looked like and because of the funny shape.
I trusted my ps. I was initially disappointed with the result after the expanders were replaced with the implants but then as everything settled down I was really happy. I love my new up sized boobs. The only disappointing thing is that I no longer fit into some of my gorgeous and favourite dresses :(. I now find I have to buy new clothes to fit my new chest size (and the hubby has no reason to stop me buying clothes!)
If your ps has put more saline in than he took out then you have gone bigger than you were before. My bs and ps told me how many grams they took from each breast and then my ps and I discussed whether I would like to stay the same or go bigger (I was a 12a per surgery so I wasn't considering going smaller :)) a cup size for me was about 100-150ml. If your ps has put too much in they can always remove the saline so just work out what size you want.
I hope this helps.
