Tissue Expanders / Sons Progress

Hi All
It has been so long since I have been on here as many know we have had a lot of health issues and it was and still is going on.
Well I had to have my tissue expander out on the left side last yr as it cut its way out the front of my chest so emergency surgery it was.
Now 12 mths down the track they still havent put it back in and I am on the wait list.
My question is has anyone had tissue expanders out then back in ? Also on the left where they took it out the muscle still aches so bad if I try and lay on my side and sometimes even on my back. Also the right side with the tissue expander still in not expanded aches like all heck at times it really like I dunno pinches hurts.
I had a check up last week and the plastics reckon it all shouldnt be hurting still ...... I met another lady in the line up there for the exact same reason and she aches as well.
Can anyone tell me is this normal to still be aching and hurt even after using my upper body. I had a bilateral mastectomy in Feb 2011 then tissue expander out in August 2011.
I am just so concerned if the unfilled expander moves Ill be set back still.
I find if I try and exercise using my top half I ache and hurt so so bad after even during at times - is this normal as well ?
An update on my son
He is now 4 and we had an MRI a few weeks ago and the brain tumour hasnt started to grow :) Its now 12 months post his surgery and he is okay. Has alot of physical issues but he is alive !!! Poor boy now has to have surgery on both his eyes in school holidays and his grommits come out of his left ear so he cant hear on the left atm either. But I am just so happy he is making progress and he can walk and get about by himself but a little wobble and has many stacks but he is getting along okay and is a blessing everyday to be with him.
Just looked at my profile pic as well and that little bubba girl is now 2.5 lol maybe need to update it I think :)

  • Thanks heaps :) but as you will see in my next blog crap just keeps happening. :/

  • That's tough living 4 hours drive away from medical help.I had a mastectomy on the left side and my doctor says I have adhesions.I have a constant sensation like I have duck tape strapped across my chest. If I lie on that side in bed for too long then it tends to be a little sore in the morning. It doesn't really bother me though- or maybe I'm just used to it. Michelle,I guess you just have to monitor it.If it's been the same soreness from day 1 and it was all checked out then not much you can do.But if it's getting worse then that's more of a worry.Maybe keep a pain diary of when it aches and for how long and what makes it worse. You then have more information to give to your doctor when you see or ring him. Just a thought.

  • Yeah I tend to ache alot more if I lay on my side - They felt it all and app its in place still but I dunno could it be just because its got no fill in it at all ? My left side they reckon could be as they have cut the chest muscle 4 times so it maybe scarring but I guess I cant do anymore as I live 4 hrs away from the hospital and if they are saying its in place they wont do an ultra sound either. Thats the hard part of living in the country you have to dr 4hrs to see the specialists.
I just hope I dont get another set back :(
