TIMBERRRRRR!

Day 5 - after round six.

TIMBERRRRR!

And down she went.....

Hooley Dooley! Never a dull moment....

Woke up feeling a little woozy, but nothing unusual...managed breakfast and my day 4 post then..........

Grumble, rumble, grrrrrr.....tummy decided to let me know toilet time!

One of the less glamorous (not that there is anything glamorous about ANY of this!) side effects of chemo and medication is constipation...... Yep why not! let's talk Poo! Everyone has discussed and SEEN absolutely EVERYTHING else of mine!

Despite taking ALL the necessary precautions to make sure I keep regular....the treatment and meds never fail to back me up....and despite having diarrhea two days before, it is true that you can still be constipated and have diarrhea....this is called 'overflow' (see? glamorous term...NOT!) I learned a lot about this when my Dad was ill, as he was rushed to the hospital many times for the same thing...but I thought I was OK. The stomach and digestive tract plays a big part in how your body clears itself out....It even affects your heart! and all the nerves are affected too...and it's that pressure on the nerves that make you pass out....

So up I get to sit on the throne.......grumble, grumble...Nothing...

Uh oh! get really,, really hot, sweaty.......still nothing......hmmm I think I need to get to the bed...got up ....

Wake up with a fright to Rusty jumping on me.....whining and licking me....I was flat on my back....I managed to miss the vanity and the shower screen O.O.....the pain in my tailbone shooting up my back......Rusty was beside himself.....

I must have had my phone in my hand as it was next to me on the floor when I woke....Boy am I glad I now have the habit of taking my phone with me everywhere!....

I did stand up....but quickly went down again....Rusty was panicking....I managed to crawl from the en suite to the bed, I couldn't even call out to Jordan who was in the other room and after catching my breath, phoned Ron......

"I've fainted, I'm hurt" I said.....he was on his way.......I then tried to relax... I was worried about the ridiculous weather and him rushing to be home.....the pain was awful....great I've fractured my tailbone I thought...

He got home, I couldn't move, an ambulance was called....the usual checks and fluids were started.....Got to ride in the transport chair to the vehicle as my BP was very low and my heart rate had dropped to 45......we also had to go the long way out, via the backyard as it was pouring and dangerous to tackle the front steps....needless to say we all got drenched!

Made my way to the hospital, and after some persistent, but gentle convincing from the lovely paramedic, had some morphine for the pain....Met by the same nurse who treated me last week for my bloody nose.....and he was worried about my butt...he said it was broken........What? then he said there was a crack in it! Hahaha! He was a funny guy...which is always good!

The usual tests ensued and I was moved to the Short Stay ward as my BP was still playing up..now to deal with that constipation! double dose of Movicol and a lovely enema.......well you all know the outcome of that....and thank God! LOL! X-rays came back clear, bloods clear and after a long wait, one last check of postural BP and I was allowed to go home....

The conclusion? a bit of EVERYTHING....my body has run out of reserves...

I still have morphine hangover. I am EXTREMELY sore and stiff. So I will not be running any marathons today, sorry!

I really need to stop being such a Diva and stop repeating these V.I.P appearances! Seriously though, I need to thank everyone for the wishes and messages...my hubby for being by my side and the ever trusty Rusty....he truly is an amazing little dog and I am now TOTALLY convinced he was MEANT to be here with us right now!

Stay safe, dry and warm.

Xx

  • Wow Tracey! No point doing things by halves!!! I'm so glad that you didn't break anything but can imagine that you are probably feeling a quite sore. Thank goodness you had your phone on you. Hope things settle down soon. Take care. Karen xox

  • wow that was a bit of everything! You did a great job to get through all that and to sound like it was no big deal....it must have been very scary for you. Lesson learnt? Take a dog or a phone with you wherever you go, and face away from sharp corners when sitting on the toilet! It always amazes me when I read people's stories on here....everyone seems so blasé about the number, variety and severity of side effects they have, it is awe inspiring. There are so many real troopers on here, and you are definitely one of them.

Rusty deserves a scruffie, he sounds like a great companion...trusty Rusty. Don't underestimate what you went through, and take it easy on yourself for the next little while, that was quite an episode you had there.

  • Tracey, life is never dull is it? What a horrible experience!! I can't imagine how scary that must have been. I am so glad you're ok. I have broken my tailbone in the past and 2 weeks of sitting on an inflatable donut was no fun. Rusty sounds like my Moppitt. He never leaves my side. Now if I could train him to fetch help like Skippy then we'd all be better off... Please take care of yourself.

  • Hi I can relate to the constipation terrible feeling. I have just had surgery for my knee and suffered from constipation, this brought back my own experience during chemo. I'm so glad the hospital looked after you so well. Today rest and take it easy xx

  • OMG Tracey...

Just was thinking of you and this horrid weather and was hoping you were safe and dry... actualy just sent you anot then checked out new posts and saw yours ??????

I am so sorry you are having it this rough and so happy you did have a phone with you. I have been taking mine with me everywhere at home and yelled at hubby so many times when I learnt he was leaving his on silent at night for that exact reason.

He thinks I am nuts thinking something can go wrong just when one goes to the loo but I guess on Chemo everything can go wrong any place any time ??

I am glad they took care of you at the Hospital and sincerely hope this is your last Chemo induced visit to Emergency. You have seen the inside of that place far too many times so due to have at least couple of Emergency free decades.

May you have the most boring univentfull restfull week ever

OMG Honey, how awful for you, it must have given you a hell of a fright ! That dizziness and all sorts of bowel issues hit me while doing chemo as well. That's so horrible that you had a fall, I dearly hope that you don't have any more dramas. Movicol is lovely and gentle, and the best thing for you with all the changes. I also suffer from low BP, and carry a bottle of water with me all the time. Just as well there was someone there to help you.  Sending you a big cuddle, Trace ????????

  • Ah shit Tracey...hopefully this is the last of it (but not the poo, as you really need to do that). It must have been quite scary.

I have had the general aches and pains, sore skin, fatigue and tears today following last round of chemo...which is now weekly. #Fuckcancer I am fed up with it.

Good old Rusty....and so lucky you had the phone.
