Hi Pam,
I actually had an aggressive thyroid cancer a few years before I got breast cancer. With the thyroid, I ended up with multiple surgeries and a high dose and wide field radiation before finally being told I was in remission (recently hit 5 year mark for this). In my case, the breast cancer was easier in that I opted for a mastectomy and have been all clear so far (touch wood) - almost 2 years. The original specialist I saw for my thyroid is the same one I went to see about the breast cancer. He is an endocrine surgeon (I also still see the oncologist and the surgeon he passed me on to who was brilliant when it was found what type I had) and told me every time that the body takes time to recover and when thyroid issues (and that includes when taking medications related to having no thyroid) are involved this can take up to a year for things to be finally adjust. This same thing was told to me by the oncologist and the other surgeon. I know that our cases may be different but I thought I would just let you know what I had been told - hope it helps at least in some way.
