Thinking Breast Reconstruction?.....we might be able to help you

Breast Reconstruction

If you are newly diagnosed or if you have had a mastectomy or partial mastectomy and are considering breast reconstruction, you might be interested in joining the BCNA Breast reconstruction online group.

This group has a membership of over 400 women which represents a wonderfully rich resource of information to help with each aspect of the reconstruction journey.

Breast reconstruction can be tough and this group is a safe, private place where members can share images and personal experiences. Members can ask questions of each other or simply read relevant posts to gain the answers they seek.

There is also printable information and related articles which may be of interest, and a Topic Index to help find the information you need.

.....OR if you know someone who is seeking this type of knowledge and support, please recommend this group to them.....

You can access the group by clicking this link...http://www.bcna.org.au/group/61026

This group is facilitated by volunteers who have been there and understand the challenges.

  • First post, thats great, well done. it can be very confusing on this sight but you'll get the hang of it. there is so much info it would be a shame to miss it.

This is the link to the group http://www.bcna.org.au/group/61026 (an easy option to get there now) but to find this group look in 'my group' in 'my profile' to the right. You will see the recon group there...click that to open it. You will open on the view tab (front page), scroll down and read the bits and pieces and at the bottom is a list of blog hints to help you navigate and post. Look for the Topic Index which is the easiest way to find info.

To post a blog there are 2 ways:

    1. look to the left group logo, underneath it says 'create blog post'...click that and you are posting in the group
    2. next to the 'view tab' is the 'blog' tab...click that and it opens the whole thread of all the posts in the group. At the top above the latest post it says 'create blog post'

The site can be overwhelming and i hope this helps. i cant forward a message on your behalf, but follow my tips and you should be fine. i will look out for a comment from you.

  • Dear Louise,

I couldn't work out how to blog in the recon group - I just got confused and did wnat I could.  I think maybe this was my first blog ever. Can you forward the message as a new topic in the recon group?

  • Hi Kim, wow, working after 6 weeks. There would have been no way I could have done that. I think the faitigue lingers for a long time, I am more than a year from my main mast/recon and still tried. But I also had chemo so it could also be that. I am fulltime now, but it has taken ages to get there.

It would be awesome if you blogged in the recon group, I just did a recent post for happy ending stories, you should find it in the latest posts in the group or at this link http://www.bcna.org.au/network/groups/61026/blog/78874

It is just great to see women who are happy with their outcomes and glad they perservered.

    All the best Louie
