THE WAITING GAME

Hi all,
I got my letter and appointment today to see the next Oncologist for my treatment.
It is in 3 weeks - on one hand I think why soooooo long the sooner I start the sooner its over with, but then I think well maybe 3 weeks more to relax if that's what you call it and make the most of it.

I know everywhere  and everyone is different but once you see the oncologist for treatment (which is Chemo then radiation) how long before you really do start your treatment. The waiting is frustrating.

  • I remember when I had my first visit with my oncologist, she said that they like to start chemo within 12 weeks of surgery.  I delayed my start by a couple of weeks as I was off on holidays and that was fine.

    Good luck,

    Louise

  • Hi Jody,

As the normal depending on where you live i actually had mine the next day after seeing the oncologist, but that was because i had to drive 600k's to see him, so instead of going away and comming back he started there and then, it was jump in at the deep end. I know what you mean the waiting through al of this journey is the worse part, the not knowing what to expect, so hopefuly once you see him it wont be long before you get started. Good luck and please let us know how you are going, we are all here for you and remember there are lots of hints and tips from other to try make it easier. so no question is stupid on here. just yell out.

    Regards Moira
