Ali, I was diagnosed with BC in 2009 (hormone positive) but then again in 2011 (Triple Negative). I'm nearly 3 years post bi lateral mastectomy, chemo and reconstruction and feel fabulous! I'm very well. I'm also 55, not 'young'.
The thing I learnt from my BC experience was to make the most of each day and to do things for ME! I started to put me first in my life and to said 'no' to things that did not make me happy. Consequently I have a very happy and positive life. (Get rid of the negative friends, build the positive friendships).
Sadly with your husband also having cancer, I think the other important thing is to make MEMORIES! On the days you both feel well enough, do something nice together. Perhaps even plan a holiday away when your treatemnt is over. I always find having a holiday to look forward to makes daily life much better!
I also googled and was dismayed, but my Oncologist reassured me by saying that the publshed figures are all at least 5 years out of date. We are the new statistics and we are SURVIVING! Remember TNBC hates chemo more than hormone receptive BC so we have that on our side!
Take care of yourself. You are number 1!
