The people you meet

I had my 12 month oncologist check yesterday.Everything was great,so I feel very happy and thankful. While I was waiting to see the doc,I met a lady who has ABC.She was telling me a little about herself, and how, because of all her treatment, she has suffered terribly with chemo brain. She told me about a website called brainhq.com that has been so helpful to her.I had never heard of it,but I thought that I would post it,just incase there are other ladies that might be interested. She said it has helped her more than she ever hoped for! You can have a look around for free, and then I think you have to subscribe,or register.I took a look, and it is quite interesting. When you go on there,go to brain disorders, and then go to the link that says, injuries, diseases and disorders that affect the brain. In this section you will see chemo brain/chemo fog. Well I hope that you all have a great day.Gorgeous and sunny in Sydney today!!! Cheers xoxRobyn

  • Wow,you sound as though you are doing so well. You are so right when you say that we all go through the worry when our treatment has finished, but there is a lot available to us ,so we can try to stay on top of things, and be as healthy as we possibly can.Stay in touch and let us know how you are going.Cheers xoxRobyn
  • Wonderful news Robyn and so happy that all is good. I will be having my full check up in January. I did see my surgeon two weeks ago and she is happy with how I am going and the changes I have made by eating better, losing weight, and really focusing on my health. My husband bought me a treadmill the other day so I definitely have no excuses about not walking everyday because of the weather. lol  Hopefully by January and having my 12 monthly checkup I will be feeling even better. I know the worry will be there but we all go through this and I know I will be just fine.  By the way, I am really enjoying the Encore program and this will be my 2nd week and the hydrotherapy classes and exercises are so much fun. I have met some lovely ladies and so we have another 6 weeks to go before it finishes.

  • I did ask, just forgot to post it!!!!!It is one of the many side effects of Tamoxifen.A bit like chemo,so it's important to cover up and/or try to stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day. On a much lighter note Tonya,I haven't had a hot flush for 3 whole days!!!!!!! I have no clue why!!!!Cheers Robyn

  • Good news for your checkup.Did you ask your doctor about sensitive/prickly skin when in the sun?Tonya xx
  • Great news on check up, it must feel good to start to feel normal

  • Thanks for passing the site on.  We were hoping for a bit of rain from the low which you have just experienced, but it didn't eventuate.  It's becoming very dry here.  I'm finding it difficult to get the correct words out in a conversation now, just seem to go blank and find it very fustrating. So will check out this site you have posted. Sue:-)

  • I'm glad that your 12 month check went well. Thanks for the info about help with chemo brain. I think this is the thing that is still most frustrating for me. I have heaps of trouble with finding the right words and issues with working anything out quickly. I make lots of embarrassing mistakes. Saw the crazy weather you have been having down there. It must be good to have a lovely sunny day. :)))) Deanne xxx

  • Glad the 12 month check up went well. Will definitely look at that site... I think chemo brain took over where baby brain left off!! Enjoy the sunshine. Paula x
