the next step

Hi thought it was time I let you all know my results. They weren't what I was expecting. I had a small but agreesive invasive tuma in my left breast. It is HER2+. I have to have  Day surgery on Wednesday as 1 of the margins weren't clear to the surgeons liking. If it comes back clear ( surgeon is confident it will) i will be starting a 12. Weeks of chemo in 2 weeks. If not a mastectomy will be the next step. Unlike a lot of women I feel losing one of my breast is losing part of me but will accept the fact should it happen. I also start Herceptin every 3 weeks for 12 months. After spending many hours in my Surgeon's and Oncologist rooms we walked out completely drain with lots of information being given to us and decisions to be made. Always knew I would need radium but didn't anticipate chemo. Couldn't sleep that night as my mind keep going over and over all the information we we're told. I got my Journey Kit out and started reading the book and looking up information. Most of what the Oncologist spoke about was in the book. After many hours reading I went to bed and had at least a few hours sleep.     Now I'm waiting to take the next step along the road whether it be straight or takes another unexpected turn.

Good luck everyone on your journey to freedom.

  • Hi Leanne,

It's hard taking every in, so much information.  Glad you got the my journey kit.  I found it so helpful.  I also fond walking to be a great help.  Laughing, crying with friends and family.  It's such a emotional roller coaster.

Take one thing at a time and be kind to yourself.

    Big hugs,

    Karen xx

Brave Girl Leanne, it has taken a lot of processing, but it seems like you are in a good place to move forward. You'll get lots of support here. Sending you a big cuddle, Trace ????

  • Hi it is hard you have a long trip ahead of you. Take it 1 day at a time iit is so much to take in, We have to be told side effects and stuff it dosen't mean you will get all of them. I had a mastectomy and yes it is difficult to lose a part of your body, time does help. I'm coming up to 12 months since mine and I have had reconstruction and the up side is I have perky boobs at 53. Take care of yourself sending you positive thoughts

  • Hi Leanne, thanks for sharing your very touching story. I wish you all the best on the rest of your journey to freedom!
