The next challenge......surgery...

So continuing on....

I had surgery on Oct 25th, 2 weeks after being diagnosed. Even though I only had cancer in my left breast I decided to also have my right breast off.

The surgery went well, I woke up with 5 drains and 2 expanders. I was very worried about looking at myself in the mirror for the first time, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good they looked. I'm very happy that I decided to have the reconstruction started at the same time. Hubby said he didn't care, he would support me either way. But knowing that I'm happy makes him happy. And I guess having a nice chest to show after all this will be something to look forward to. (I've always been a 10b)

Recovery is going well. It was very frustrating at first. I've always been active, and like going to the gym, playing hockey, vigoro and just keeping fit. So to be reduced to doing arm exercises was vey testing. I had to take it one day at a time, and knew it woiuldn't be forever.

Six weeks later and I feel pretty good. :)
