Dear Wndyj,
the fluid machine you mention is called a bio-impedence machine. I understand some therapist and hospitals are trying to use them pre surgery to see changes.
here is a sample article I found http://www.impedimed.com.au/medical-applications/lymphedema/ not sure how many different machines there are. I know it was stated as being expensive when I was diagnosed with one almost 4 years ago now. That therapis Louise Koelmeyer does a lot with/on this and is a good speaker. She heads up the LACe life after Cancer area of Macquarie's Cancer unit. here is a reprt from [arliament https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/prod/parlment/hansart.nsf/V3Key/LA20130521050
key for all of us is the encourage all to be diagnosed by someone on the ALA register if we have any concerns re swelling or heaviness post surgically. those of us who have had axillary clearance or had any lymph nodes removed from any surgery not just BC, are at risk of developing Lymphoedema at any times post surgery. I am told risk is highest for the first 5 years but know of people diagnosed 2 0+ years later following sun burn, tick bite etc.
please stay vigilent as the weather warms up. I know I was more careful with my exercise over the past hot weekend in sydney inc cancelling outodor activities to stay inside a read books
