Still in the first week of dealing with the diagnosis. Now im wondering/researching whether to have a mastectomy or lumpectomy?
Just trying to figure it all out and what is the best way for me. It is overwhelming.
My family are amazing and i dont know how anyone could go through this alone.

thats exactly what I am scared of..lumpetomies not working and continuing to be anxious about whether the cancer has spend- I hope you are feeling better too- mouse
I am at the same crossroad as you, speak to your surgeon and your ask your breast care nurse. Based on your type of cancer, age and many other factors like test results you will know in your heart what is best.
It truely is a personal decision - i have been told that we always make the right decision.

I sincerely hope you are able to follow your "gut feel" when making your decisions. There is no-one else who can make them for you and I am so pleased that you have people with you to support what you decide. The stories and insights from the women on this network have pulled me through some rough patches and have certainly made me feel less alone. It's tough making decisions when you are still in shock but if you follow your heart, listen to your specialists, you will make the right ones. Its a hard choice, yes, but a very personal one.... you have to make the decision :) go with what ya heart tells you :)
I also had a lumpectomy then mastectomy, however every breast cancer is different.... what are ur specialists telling you to do?

its a hard one. I had two lumpectomies from which they were not happy with the margins so then had a mastectomy.
