The end of treatment

Hi Girls, it's been a long time since I have posted on here but I wanted to share what's been happening. Yesterday I had my port out finally! after 13 months since it was inserted and I had the best sleep I have had in ages. To recap: 27/11/12 found lump 4/12/12 lumpectomy 7/12/12 see surgeon and advised it is Breast Cancer require more surgery 11/12/12 wider margins and sentinel node biopsy - still localised 14/1/13 start AC chemotherapy 10/3/13 Gall bladder surgery (one big gall bladder attack but the risk of infection while on chemo. Is too high so the gall bladder had to be taken out) 24/3/13(approx.) Infusa Port inserted 14/4/13 Start Taxol 14/4/13 (approx.) Start Herceptin 28/6/13 finish Taxol Early August 2013 Start Radiotherapy Mid August 2013 Hair makes a re-appearance Mid September 2013 Radiotherapy finished 16/4/14 Herceptin 18 finishes ! :)! 23/4/14 birthday, go hot air ballooning :) 24/4/14 Infusa Port taken out, the only surgery I have ever gone into with a huge smile on my face! :) And so that is it, 17 months after finding my lump all treatment is over and I can look forward and spend the rest of this year on my year of wellness, be brave and try new things. • And so that is it! I loved the way you wrote that! You are already brave,so tick that one off your list...just concentrate on getting really healthy with good nutrition and exercise, and your year can only get better:) Congratulations on finishing your treatment! xoxRobyn
  • What an 18 months! It is great when it is all over. To celebrate the completion of my treatment ( I had TCH, with the 18 cycles of Herceptin) I climbed Mt Kosciuszko.

I am getting my port removed on Wednesday. Looking forward to it as I see this as the completion of treatment (except for Tamoxifen for 9 more years).

I too am looking forward to spending the rest of this year being well and adventurous.

    Take care,

    Helen.
