Hi Catherine I was diagnosed in January this year. I had a partial & removal of 3 lymph nodes. It came back that one lymph node was positive & hormone sensitive. I am having radiotherapy then Anastrozole (Arimidex) for 5 years. However, I have felt uneasy about my treatment from day dot. I wanted to have chemo for the added insurance. Since then I have had lots of scans & a shadow has been found in my lung, Now I want chemo even more. It has been explained to me that because I had a bypass of my aorta in my stomach & that the aorta there is in effect the plumbing to my heart it would be a huge risk that chemo would damage my heart. And as Im diabetic & in a wheelchair my quality of live could lessen. Im starting radiotherapy on the 27th. Im waiting to see the Respiratory Dept so will start treatment before I see them. Now even though I understand everything Iv been told deep down I still feel uneasy about it. What will happen if my lung is cancer, chemo. Im torn between my logical mind saying have chemo now (insurance) & doing what the Dr tells me (I wont be seeing him until 1 June). So for now even though Im very unsure Im going with the multidisciplinary team
Also Iv heard of so many people having the same treatment as me & when they finish their hormone treatment it comes back. That's a big fear of mine. I don't want to go through this again later on.
