I've had some wild cures suggested when some of my friends and acquaintances have heard my having the big C. I just have to share this doozy. Within 5 minutes of hearing about my cancer via her mother in conversation this person showed up on my driveway and was not invited up as I am low on cells in chemo so talked up to me and my hubby on the veranda. She has this 'friend' who had bc who got this special blood test done and sent it overseas to a German laboratory for special dna and enzyme testing or something to accurately tell exactly what sort of cancer it was. Then it was $7000 for this person to purchase the 'cure' to be sent back. Reminds me of the Batman Dark Knight movie with Heath Ledger as the Joker. Someone mentions the big C and everyone loses their minds!

OMG! Brenda5!!! yes I've had some too, from marijuana or swallowing whole garlic cloves to traveling overseas for that miracle. we've all got that 'my friend' story, haven't we? My sister in law (love her to bits) brings me a bunch of watercress, eat this she says, it prevents you from getting cancer, my words back? Too late I already have it! The look on her face was priceless! She even looked puzzled when I told her to stay away if she had even the slightest sniffle! Sometimes you wonder if they are even paying attention to what you are saying.... Friends and family mean well, they go through all the entire we do, they don't want us to be sick, don't want to see us suffer, but sometimes the things that come out of their mouths is gobsmacking! Yep, within minutes of telling my bffs, the one who is the most sensible and sane of us all tells me I MUST start taking hemp oil IMMEDIATELY as it shrinks tumours. Now I have no problem with taking natural remedies (I use them all the time) BUT only when its appropriate. Plus I am such a goody two shoes that purchasing or taking something illegal would seriously do my head in. And is it just me or is suddenly everyone posting onto facebook (on their own pages not mine) links to various plants, diets, smoothies, etc to either take to help prevent cancer or stay away from because they cause cancer.... sigh...

Hey Brenda, I refuse to give cancer the big c, it stays a little c that I'm gonna stomp all over! "My friend" told me how her mum was cured by a vegetarian juiced diet, I'm really happy for her.

Yes lots of special diets and illicit drugs suggested on face book. Some times whispered via pm. I just thank them very much and leave it at that. They aren't that pushy and its kind of nice that they do care. Actually while I am doing next to nothing day by day its a welcome thing to read all my friends face book walls. It helps pass the time.

Hi Brenda Interesting topic. It brings out the weird and wacky in people. My mum, who I used to think had her head screwed on quite well, once told me about the 'miracle cure' of the child of a friend of a friend (there were a lot of people in between her and the child). The 'cure' was mass prayer, and I'm not bagging prayer, but I couldn't believe that she was convinced any of this story was true without first-hand information. She seemed equally surprised that I wasn't amazed. I have a magnet on my fridge that says 'Did you eat a bowl of stupid for breakfast?'. My threshold for saying that to people has dropped dramatically since this bc nonsense. Best wishes :)
