Hello Gen. My year started out much the same as yours. Having recently taken an early retirement last October, I was looking forward to some travelling and spending time with my much loved grandchildren. I found a lump in January, just a few days before my annual mammogram and it all snowballed from there. I too was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, stage 3. This was my third cancer diagnosis. My first diagnosis was when I was your age, 21 years ago and I underwent my first mastectomy. Then eight years ago I was diagosed with tongue cancer. So I knew the drill - or so I thought. The previous two cancers had been treated with radiotherapy whereas this time it was a mastectomy followed by chemotherapy. I breezed through the first three cycles and then they changed drugs - I didn't know what hit me! But all is good. I have decided against reconstruction and it has been wonderful dropping several cup sizes with my prostheses. My hair is growing back and I feel great!! I am looking forward to the next phase of my life and being as happy as I have been for the last 62 years. I am getting fit, spending time with my family, travelling with my husband and lunching with friends. I am also getting involved in volunteer work again. Life is good!!
