Thank You!

I am new to this forum. I'm an Australian living in New York - registered under my old home town. I haven't found anything like this over here. 

I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone. I've been reading the posts since February and found all of the personal experiences etc. very comforting and informative. 

I had diagnostic mammograms and three biopsies on January 29th, diagnosed on February 4th, had genetic gene testing for BRCA1 and BRCA2 (negative), surgery on February 28th (just a lumpectomy - lost about 1/3 of my breast and lots of skin), will begin chemotherapy in about 2-3 weeks, followed by radiotherapy. And then, like so many, will receive hormone treatment for 5+ years. 

I haven't told too many people about the cancer, but pretty soon I guess it will become more noticeable and might impact more on my work - I run my own business with no staff. Not sure yet how to handle keeping things going. We'll see! 

I have a question. I have a fairly public life and have a big event coming up - just over  a week away. I'm thinking that a confidence booster and a little "cheer-me-up"  is in order. So, I want to go and get my long hair cut - going for a sassy short haircut and I want to color it. I'm assuming that it's okay to dye one's hair before chemotherapy?

Doesn anyone know differently? I'm assuming it will do no real harm. I haven't found any informatin online about this. 

Finally, thank you all again. I'm a very pragmatic person - have been reading up on all the medical facts etc. about all of this, but really, it's the personal insights and experiences that have been most helpful.
