Tests to confirm

Hi, I have just been diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, Grade 3. I have had a wide local incision and the results of the surgery are positive. Clear margins, only 5.5mm and no lymph node involvement. Pathology showed oestrogen positive and ICH showed HER2 3+. I have been told that another test has been done and I find this out on Friday. I am wondering if anyone has been ICH 3+ and then come back negative on the FISH. I am thinking that it will be positive as there doesn't seem to be any readings that say it changes. But you never know. Thanks Denise :)

  • Hi Dianne, yes a very long year ahead, but this time next year it will be over!!!!Just try to take each step as it happens, and don't look ahead.Often, what we think is going to happen, doesn't!!! I stressed about chemo SO MUCH,and so did my husband and daughter. When it actually started,I was one of the ladies who actually found it not bad at all.:) Eat well, and MOST IMPORTANTLY,try to get some daily exercise in,like walking.Your body needs all the help it can get at the moment. Please stay on touch and let us know how you are travelling.Cheers xox Robyn
  • HI Robyn, I got the results and I was HER2+ve again so my treatment plan is weekly chemo for 12 weeks, with a double up every 3 weeks of Herceptin that goes for 52 weeks (they will put in a port to admisniter the drugs).  After the 12 weeks of weekly, I will then have 8 weeks of daily radiotherapy.  After the 52 weeks of Herceptin, I will then go onto Tamoxifen so a long year ahead!  Thank you for replying to me. All the best Denise : )

  • Thanks Robyn.  I will see if this is the case with me tomorrow.

    All the best

  • I actually was the same as you.You can read on my earlier blogs if you want where I posted about it.I was her2+ and then after the second test,her2- . My oncologist explained to me they always test again because a false positive is not uncommon. I was relieved, but I still had 4 rounds of chemo. It just depends on everything else in your pathology on what happens.Take care .Cheers xoxRobyn
