I'm sorry you are having this experience on top of everything else!
Trust that your GP has put you onto a better medical team. Ask alot of questions...I hope you get the care you deserve....sounds like your GP wasn't happy either so he/she will make certain you get the right people to look after you now
Meanwhile...write down all questions, not matter how trivial they seem, take a support person with you as extra ears...and remember to breathe.
