Taxol

it has been a little while since I posted, but thought I would ask if there are any other ladies who have had Paclitaxel as their first line of treatment. I was diagnosed with multifocal Tnbc in Nov 2012 and commenced neoadjuvant chemo 12 days later. I am now 11/12 weeks through and have been coping well. I am waiting for my onc to advise my next treatment but probably EC next then surgery and radiation. I am finding that because I have not had surgery yet, I have very little outside support. I don,t have a breast care nurse and don't get the same information as other ladies I talk to have had. My treatment is just a little different, but I am sure I am not alone

  • Hi Michelle,

Thanks - I finished Taxol yesterday and start  dose dense EC next Friday ( 4 x fortnightly) .  I am going to see my surgeon again on Tuesday so will ask her about being teamed up with a Breast Care nurse.

    Yhanks again  Sue

  • I also had 12 Taxols (but it was post-surgery) and I am so pleased you are coping so well - congratulations on nearly being finished! Then I had 28 rads followed by a precautionary hysterectomy. It is hard for you not having a nurse to ask questions - your chemo nurses will be very up-to-date as they see so many of us at all stages. If you know who your surgeon will be, his receptionist should be able to steer you to a breast care nurse.

Have you joined the TNBC group on this site? There are quite a lot of us, and reading through some of the posts might help you with information. There could be others who have started with neoadjuvant chemo. Just look up TNBC in the Search box and request to join.

All the best and let us know how you go. Michelle xx
